Hahah, I’ve got the look for puppies and other baby animals as well. Animal babies are so cute, humans are… Ugly when they first pop out. Anyway, I can’t say I hate these women, I just find them interesting. I’m curious about their way of thinking, I would love to put them into a test lab and do a series of tests on them, if you know what I mean.

I so know what you mean and I hate those kind of women too. I don’t think I want kids and the looks I get from women with kids or friends that want kids eventually drives me nuts! Plus I don’t ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ over kids or babies…I reserve that for puppies! It’s not that I hate kids — I work with kids and teens. But the more I work with them, the less I envy their parents and the less I want any of my own!!!

My husband and I have chosen not to have kids either and boy is that ever an experience when you try to explain to someone who lives solely for parenting that you’re not interested. Don’t misunderstand, I love OPKs (other people’s kids) and I would probably ‘ooh’ and ‘ah’ over a little cutie in the supermarket but that ‘entitlement’ and ‘you will admire me’ type of forceful attitude you describe so accurately is absolutely the biggest turnoff for me. I always think: “Just b/c you’re happy with choices you’ve made that are different from mine doesn’t mean I can’t be thrilled with the ones I picked.” And “Why do you need me to validate you?” Rebeccas last blog post..A Blogger is not a Writer

I have an automatic smile reaction to well-behaved, cute, kids in public but not to bratty ones. I have always been that way. I don't even notice the mothers ata all. They don't exist in my line of vision usually. bet that would disappoint the mother you saw...that I would merely smile at her kid and ignore her as if she didn't exist! Maybe that’s why she expected a reaction, as her kid wasn’t being a menace or anything, I didn’t really look if he was cute or if he was a she! I just know he wasn’t a psycho or anything, in my books a good kid: can be seen but not heard. :p Maybe that is the reason she expected smiling admiring faces?

Having said that, the Australian kids are really super cute a lot of the time. Curly hair is so common here, and what is more cute than a curly haired kid?

really? that's strange of the lady... usually when I see children in public, my desire to have children goes down to a sane level because the little horrors can be such psychos!
