Package from home
A couple of weeks ago, I asked my friend Marjaana to “send me that package now”. We had an agreement, that since I helped her out with her company logo, she would then later send me some chocolate from home when I would be desperate for it. The time arrived.
So she asks how many of those 200 gram slabs I’d need, and suggested 15. I thought she was JOKING, and replied with a completely out of the proportion number of “between 30 to 50″. It turned out she wasn’t joking! I was expecting 2, and instead she sent 15 of them + salmiac and then apologized that she couldn’t send more than that as the weight limit was exceeded.
OMG I was laughing my head off, as I really really didn’t expect that much. The fact is though, that there will be no problems at all eating that up in no time. And no, I love nobody in the family enough to share. Well, except Brett of course.
Just out of curiosity I found out what is the difference between liquorish and salmiac, which is often translated as salt liquorish which is not entirely accurate (I knew that). I found out that liquorish is made out of wheat, syrup and legume while salmiac contains not much anything other than ammonium chloride. Salmiac was originally sold nowhere other than the pharmasists in Finland, as it was some sort of a side product of some medicine, and we just fell in love with it. Even though I am not addicted to salmiac like most Finns seem to be, I do love the stuff.
The package contains two of my favorite chocolates. It doesn’t matter how much of belgium chocolate there is, there is nothing like Karl Fazer chocolate. It is unpretentious fantastic chocolate, that just gives you a wonderful taste and no big gimmics. Even though that pinky one has berries in it, and they just make the chocolate feel like you were eating fireworks in a velvet wrap. If you are curious you can order some from here, they deliver anywhere in the world. (They also sell salmiac, but can’t deliver that to USA for example as it is on the list of forbidden goods there.)
I am so happy now. Can’t wait untill my Brettels comes home, as I’m not touching the chocolate before he gets here. (I had a nibble on the salmiac, as he doesn’t like it… He eats Vegemite but doesn’t like salmiac, odd man.)
