Todays Meme from Daily Dirt.

1. What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to say to someone special but couldn’t?

You’re a god damn fake. (Applies to more than one someone special. :p)

2. Who’s the most important person in your life?

My fiance.

3. Who’s your hero?

I don’t have a hero. Don’t need one.

4. What one thing you would do to better society?

One thing… Is this if I had magical powers? If so, I’d remove stupidity, but that would be a stupid thing to do, so nothing. If we’re talking about realistic options, I Wouldn’t leave people (completely) alone (in peace) before they grow themselves a spine.

5. What’s the best thing that’s happened to you?

I met Tazz.

Not just any Hebrew. But in the future, I'll let other people correct you. I don't think you can afford my copyediting fees :)

Was that what else did I say, everything? Or what else did I mean in a specific paragraph? Sorry about the long sentences. I can try to be clearer.

(BTW, if you were a native English speaker, "Hebrew" would be somewhat derogatory. Not nearly as bad as "Kike," but still not the best term. The standard, inoffensive word in English is "Jew." Just so you know.)

So now I'm getting a spell check from a hebrew. Yappee.

What else did you say, again?
  • Michael
Your counter says "81," and when I closed and reopened my browser it still said "81," so I might be your only correspondent, but not your only reader.

I'm that sort of prophet, too. There's no sense in continuing to talk when someone isn't interested in hearing what you have to say.

Tuttava--Michael can call himself "tuttava," yes?--is wondering what "it's rather what you don't talk about" means? Tuttava is pretty sure that it means the negative part of Sebby's definitions are the main part -- i.e., Hyvänpäivän tuttu = never ask about how he’s doing, and Tuttava = never get too personal, and Kaveri = wouldn’t share your most intimate thoughts with. Ok, yeah, I'm pretty sure I've got it.

Re what you don't talk about: One of my closest friends -- and I mean Ystävä -- pointed out that there are always some things that we don't ask, that we don't talk about, because we sense that they might cause us to move apart from each other. I said: but with the people we're closest with there are fewer of those things. And although it is a risk to talk about them, to become closer you will at some point talk about them.

Ah, the English spelling. You're phonetically right, but it's spelled "awkward." Do you know how to spell "fish"? "Ghoti." The 'gh' from words like "tough." The "o" from words like "women." And the "ti" from words that end "-tion." That was Bernard Shaw's example of why the English spelling system needs to be simplified. Oh well, hasn't happened yet.

Post-post: If you happen to know any (female) Orthodox Jews that you think highly of, between the ages of, say, 23 - 28, perhaps you might direct them to my blog. Grazie :)
  • Triniene
Check the counter, you are my only reader. :D

I'm the low scale prophet, if someone is interested, I share my thoughts.

Tuttava can ask anything he wants, but not call himself a friend. :D The funny thing is, the stuff you talk about doesn't make you a friend for a finn, it's rather what you do not talk about. I know a friend when I can fall asleep with her or him without being ocward about it. :p
  • Michael
That's what he called it in an interview. And he also said he doesn't consider himself a prophet.

Anyway, we could probably have a whole discussion about The Ultimate Truth, but it would likely get very taxing and boring and drive the rest of your readership away :)

If you aren't that kind of prophet, which kind of prophet are you meant to be?

[BTW, please let me know if a "tuttava" -- I'm guessing that "tuttava" is appropriate -- should not be asking such questions.]
  • Triniene
New spiritualist? Is that what they call it? I don't want to put a name tag on a religion, as I believe the first thing you should learn about The Ultimate Truth is that you cannot rely on anyone telling you how things are. This Walch -guy got damn close to it though.

I listen for answers as well, sometimes they come, sometimes they don't, sometimes I don't know what to make of it, but nothing like writing down clear answers. I don't think I'm meant to be a prophet of that kind.
  • Michael
    Thanks :)

I hadn't heard of Neale Donald Walsch, but I looked him up, and read some stuff on his website and a couple of excerpts from his books on amazaon.com. Are you a New Spiritualist? Have you followed his lead and had similar conversations with Gd? In a certain way, for me writing poetry is that sort of conversation. Also, there have definitely been times when particular questions have troubled me, and then I decided to be silent and listen for an answer, and an answer did come. (And sometimes I waited for an answer, and it didn't come :), and that was ok, too.)
  • Triniene
    Sure you can. :)

You actually got exactly what I meant! So cool! Have you read Discussion with God by Neale Donald Walch?
  • Michael
I like that. I wouldn't either want to deny people the chance to experience any aspect of the universe. It is good to know stupidity. (You can also ask what wisdom would be if stupidity didn't exist.)

I feel that retropectively everything happened for a reason, everything was mean to be a certain way; but that in making decisions in the present, nothing is predetermined. Or, even if my present decisions are predetermined, it's better to view them as a product of my free choice, meaning that I therefore have the responsibility to choose wisely (and the ability to choose stupidly :)).

Anyway, I also wanted to thank you. I had been thinking for a month or so about writing a blog, and your blog finally inspired me to start. Thank you.

And, I have a question about etiquette/protocol/your preference: I'm drafting a post about friends and I wanted to include your explanation of the different Finnish categories of friends. Can I copy and paste into my post some of what you wrote along with the link to your post?
  • Triniene
Yeah, weird isn't it? :D Well, it has to do with divinity actually, it would deny people the change of being stupid in relation to wisdom, which would deny experiencing one aspect of the universe. It has to do with my religion, which of course claims that everything that happens, happens for a reason, so if I WOULD have the change to remove all stupidity in the world, that would me meant to happen... So What ever. :D
  • Michael
Why would it be stupid to get rid of stupidity?

I'm not sure what the realistic option is: to be a something like a modern-day Socrates?

"Divinity appears to have united such a one as I am to the city, that I might not cease exciting, persuading and reproving each of you, and every where sitting among you through the whole day." "Be well assured then, if you put me to death, being such a man as I say I am, you will not injure me more than yourselves."
