Ok, I can get some peace of mind now…. The new site is published, and I can focus on somehting else for now… Funny, one of my pals came up to me yesterday at a dance club, and told me he had visited my site that day, and that it was great, etc. When I told him that the new lay-out will be published today, and that it will be a lot better, he suddenly looked tired. “Again?? It will take me hours to look it over again!” Luckily for him the content hasn’t changed much… Some, but not much.
Juhana came over by surprise yesterday, it is a too long story to tell why, but he did, on his way to Helsinki. It was a great surprise, though it meant I had to clean the place up in a big hurry. I am a messy person, and the place looked like hell… Even to me, who a little mess doesn’t bother. He left again this morning at dawn to get to Helsinki in time. And tomorrow he’ll be back and staying for few days… That is a good thing.
I just downloaded Netscape to check my new lay-out on it. Well, as any of you, who make web pages, might guess, it looked nothing like it does on Explorer. It’s sucks so bad! My enthusiasm is almost gone… I know Netscape fucks up the Cascading style sheets, but that it fucks them up this bad? I really don’t want to optimize my pages for the pre historic excuse of a browser. Is there a script that would automaticly lounch Explorer when entering a site? That would force people view the pages on Explorer? I thought of making two different versions, but there is so much stuff on my site, that I don’t know how much my server can hold! I could use the script that redirects the user to the specific page according to the browser (s)he uses, but then… I don’t know… I should try if I could manage that… Over and out.
I promissed to myself, that I wouldn’t publish my home page untill it’s done by the dot… But I’m really impatient, when it comes to showing off.. I really like the new design, and I would like to get to the compliments A.S.A.P!! But to make sure there is nothing (much) more to be done, I have to wait… At least for another evening. I think I can handle that. After all, I have the Blogger.
This is the begining of my official blog, the blog linked directly from my web site, the one all my family and friends are wellcome to take a peek to… So this is family safe… Mostly.
(Edit: 17.1.2005 - combining 2 blogs into one, just wanted to save this first entry as well.)
Don’t you just hate it when it happens? Your computer crashes so that you don’t know what to do, and of course, you don’t own a copy of Windows 98 operating system set up CD, as you bought a used computer, and at the time you didn’t think of it. To me the problem was the “interner accelerator” NetSonic. Read my lips: “DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, INSTALL THE NETSONIC ON YOUR COMPUTER.” And if you do, don’t uninstal it, unless you are prepared to reinstal your operating system. Ok, what is does is… Once you uninstal the software, and restart your computer, you’ll get an error message, that the system cannot find the file w3knet.dll, and because it can’t you no longer can browse the web. Unfortunately the missing file isn’t one of windows files, but a NetSonic file, but once you stop your computer from trying to run the dll-file, you won’t get the error message, but your net is still down. And if you search the web with the word “w3knet.dll” you’ll find a bunch of angry people who have downloaded, installed and uninstalled the software. Not wery good thing! And of course there isn’t any warning about it on the NetSonic (www.netsonic.com) page, nor will they help you as you’re the freeware user and bring them no money. Ok, I might not bring them money, but they are taking some from me! And many others!! I might just get something back from it! Of course, this doesn’t happen to all of the users, my friend did all the stuff too, uninstalled and all, but his computer survieved. Lucky fella. And this isn’t because he used “Add/Remove programs command. But the thing is, that it is a common problem, and if some of you find a solution, make a website about it, and you’ll get tons of visitors!! (Of course this solution must be other than just “reinstall your operating system.”)
Luckily I have this friend, who knows computers better than he knows himself, (unlucky situation for him though,) and he promissed to come over tonight to see what is to be done. I’ll tell you all about it if he finds something… Other than reinstalling the operating system. I’ll get back.
